The Gold Dust Wilderness
My first book, mostly written while living in a tiny cabin at Flores Flats in the mountains above Santa Barbara in 1970. It is a book of haibun of my life on a mining claim on the North Fork of the Trinity River between 1967 and 1970, and illustrated with pictographs and petroglyphs. It’s a hand-made book, printed by silk-screen process in a small garage in Santa Barbara, and hand bound using flexible sewing while Jon and Judy Winter fed me and let me sleep in their yard. I printed a hundred and fifty copies, washing out the screens as I went along.
